A special place to fish
Our water lies in an exceptionally peaceful part of the River Tees, within the Shipley and Great Woods Site of Special Scientific Interest. The river runs through ancient woodland rich in wildlife, flora and geological interest.
Wild brown trout and grayling are the principal species, with occasional salmon and sea trout. Upstream reservoirs help maintain dependable flows even through prolonged dry periods.
The beat has no public footpaths. Fishing is deliberately light and members value the tranquillity, natural character and privilege of being allowed to enjoy this remarkable stretch of river.

Romaldkirk Anglers exists to enjoy and care for the fishing without changing the natural character of the river and surrounding woodland. Members fish responsibly, respect agreed access arrangements and share information through a close-knit syndicate community.
We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to be allowed to walk its banks, let alone fish it.
